About Us

Ion Technologies is the residential product line of Metropolitan Industries, a single-source pumps and equipment supplier, controls manufacturer, and packaged systems design-build specialist.

Launched in 1957 as a manufacturer’s representative for the greater Chicago area, Metropolitan found initial success in the residential wholesale market by specializing in pumps and related accessory equipment. The company gradually extended focus on pump specifications for the municipal water works and building trades, evolving into an established multi-market sales and service organization.

Metropolitan became known for taking on field projects with unique job site challenges by exhibiting a “whatever it takes” approach. With an emphasis on customization, the company became hands-on in electrical engineering and system design, paving opportunity to bring manufacturing and fabrication in-house.

Today, we design and assemble complete pumping and control systems for applications with varying water-related purposes. From municipal water and wastewater to commercial building plumbing and mechanical, Metropolitan’s engineering footprint encompasses communities and properties throughout the United States.

With Ion Technologies, our manufacturing reach extends to residential and light commercial through product innovations in battery backup, equipment redundancy, and solid-state sensing. Complemented with a full selection of sump, effluent, and sewage pumps, the Ion Technologies product line is supplied through wholesale to professional plumbers and contractors, and backed in-house by our dedicated Ion support and customer service team.
